Our cat shelter is NOT what you are expecting! When looking to adopt a feline friend, ICARe guarantees you an experience like no other. Our shelter design is open, welcoming, and ANYTHING BUT depressing. At least 80% of our adoptable cats are FREE-ROAMING in our shelter and have many ammentities available to stimulate all of their senses, including seasonal catios ,cat towers, and climbing shelves, cat walks, etc. What does this mean for you? Adoptable cats who are FRIENDLIER, BETTER socialized, MORE affectionate, and 10 times as entertaining! Additionally, ICARe boasts a volunteer staff who are extremely knowledgable in feline behavior, who TRULY adore our residents, and are highly experienced in all things FELINE.

We are a NO-KILL, privately owned animal shelter which receives no local or state government funding. Iroquois County Animal Rescue is a TRUE charity, with 100% of its income going right back to the animals we care for. Our goal is to respond to every call for help from a caring citizen that concerns an animal in need - and WE cannot exist without your support. As a 501(c) 3 non-profit and registered charity in IL, every dollar that you donate is tax deductible to you.

Our History
Iroquois County Animal Rescue was initially created in 2008 in response to the many domestic animals who were left displaced by the floods of January and February 2008 in Watseka, IL. Shortly thereafter, we expanded our scope to include all of Iroquois County, IL and today we are proud to provide its wonderful residents with a much needed service.
In 2010, we moved into our beautiful building located at 100 NW Lincoln, Iroquois, IL. At this facility, we care for approximately 80 homeless cats. Our adoptable cats may be viewed during the following times:
SHELTER HOURS
Saturday - 11am to 5pm
Sunday - 11am to 5pm
* All other hours are by appointment ONLY.
All of our adoptable dogs are located in foster care or housed at our new Kennel Facility. THERE ARE NO DOGS AT OUR SHELTER. You must CALL the shelter to set up an appointment to meet any of our dogs, and an application must be filled out prior to this scheduled visit. To view all of our dogs awaiting adoption, please go to petfinder.com or adoptapet.com and search under our name, Iroquois County Animal Rescue, then click on “dogs”.
Rooted in Volunteerism
ICARe is 100% staffed by volunteers. We depend on our volunteers to keep the shelter clean, to socialize the cats, to staff our fundraising events, to transport animals for veterinary appointments, and to travel to Petsmart for adoption events. To volunteer in any capacity, please click on the "contact us" form attached to this site and fill in your information, or you may call the shelter directly for a faster response.
In addition to individual volunteers, ICARe also welcomes volunteer groups from local organizations, persons needing to complete court ordered community service hours, and students who need to complete community service projects.
